About Me in the Mirror

Me in the Mirror Inc. is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to charitable benevolence through the love of fashion. The landmark event for Me in the Mirror is its annual Fashion Show & Charity Benefit. The organization was founded by, and led by, Don-ya’ (pronounced Don-yay) who is also the president of the organization. Don-ya’, Designer of the Stars, personally designs each bit of clothing worn by  the runway models in his charity event.

Don-ya’s 2011 fashion show will be dedicated to making a change. “I believe in the famous saying of Gandhi when he said “BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD”, so I will use my fashion show to make that change. I have a heart for the world and want to make a difference in the lives of the many that live in it.” -Don-ya’ 2009

“The name of my show; and charity, is ‘ME IN THE MIRROR’. In the song from the late; King Of Pop, Michael Jackson; ‘Man in the Mirror’, it states that ANY change; for this world, will have to start with YOU… US…ME: the man or woman that we see in the mirror. So I know that it must first start with me. I am hoping this event will inspire many to do the same. We live in a world filled with sickness and tribulation, and in the same world there are those who are trying to find cures or solutions to the problems we face today. Whether its cancer, famines, poverty, aids, pollution and global warming, animal cruelty, domestic violence, obesity, heart disease or diabetes, we ALL can do our part to help make a difference; no matter how big or small, every little bit helps.”

Don-ya’s fashion show will be held in Tucson, AZ, the city where the Hollywood fashion designer grew up. This will be Don-ya’s 2nd fashion show in Tucson. ”I want to make; and leave, my mark in Tucson, and show the people in it that ANYONE can help make a difference, but it must first start with them; the individual.” -Don-ya’ 2009

A portion of the ticket sales raised for this event will be donated; and divided, between 3 different charities: ‘Hands of a Friend’; woman and children shelter (Sahuarita, Arizona), ‘Katie’s Heart’; a charity who gives toys to children in the hospitals at Christmas time (Tucson, Arizona) and “Smiling Dog Rescue”, an advocacy group promoting responsible pit bull ownership and humane treatment of pit bulls.

The feel for this event will be ‘1960′s HOLLYWOOD IN TUCSON’. The event will begin with red carpet, interviews and a small meet and greet. Then we will move onto speeches and a show filled with some of Tucson’s musical talents and singers. This will lead to the main event…DON-YA’S 2011 ‘ME IN THE MIRROR’ FASHION SHOW! After the show we will continue with more meet and greets, music and dancing. The event promises to be a night to remember, filled with fun, tears and lots of love…and a few surprises.
